They cheered again. “What can we do to help?” Chicago asked.

“Either he or Sammi will be coming back through the wormhole. And when they do, AeroStar will be waiting for them. We need to clear that entry point. Any chance one of your underground pizza delivery tunnels leads to the Museum of Human History?”

Chicago shared a quick smile with Dallas and Sausalito. “Thirty minutes or less,” he said.

Chapter 24

Ellie and her parents sat in the Filby living room, still shaking from their experience. Sitting across from them was GOR-DON, slumped in a recliner, smiling awkwardly. Laid out in front of them, completely untouched, was a plate of chocolate-chip cookies. There was a long silence, then Mr. Filby turned to his wife.

“Well?”

“Not now, Daryl.”

“Say it.”

“I was wrong about the aliens, and your little welcoming group was right.”

“And?”

She shot him another look, then forced a smile over at GOR-DON. “And I’d like to welcome you to our home.”
